A Simple Wood Box Named Rose

I went downstairs the other day to get something from the back workroom , and walked past the shelving set full of handmade wood boxes. Just seeing all that beautiful and hard work just sitting there, I decided it was time to get back in the shop groove. The shop closed down after Christmas last year, but I now feel motivated to get on with getting on and start to move some inventory. If you don’t mind I could use a little help here. I want to ask you for help in how I do this.

I got ready to start yesterday. First, I made a photo staging area in the back workroom, off the craft room. I just set up a whiteboard with a plank created out of the old floorboard scrapes for the craft room. as you can see in this photo of the white wood box below

I have an inventory of about 50 handmade wood boxes in varying sizes and design.
As my first box remake of the season, I chose a white two drawer box made out of popular hard wood and painted with creamy white paint. We sprayed two coats of water-based polyurethane for sealant.

My Box Inventory ; – )) Excuse the dark pix

As part of the remake for the box, I applied a “re- design by Prima’s” Rouge Rose transfer. I only used a section I had leftover from my refinish of the hope chest seen. HERE

This simple box has two drawers with reproduction antique pulls I found at a local hardware store. The drawers are lined with dark green felt, and the bottom has felt cushions to protect the furniture. Simple wood box Approx. Measurements: 12 in long by 7 in deep by 8 in tall. Here is one is solid walnut.

Walnut Two Drawer Box

I had a. post on the various woods we use for the boxes in this post. And a prior posts on the boxes for Christmas. HERE

So back to the post on the rede box. I have named her “Rose” for obvious reasons. smile. I cut a piece of the transfer out and rubbed it onto the box using the transfer too. I allowed it to drape down the side onto the second drawer and then applied a small leaf-bud to the drawer. I left the second drawer free.

I plan to let the rose transfer sit to “cure” onto the box until Saturday. I will then use the wax I used on the hope chest : Wise Owl Lemon Verbena wax. The hope chest application was great. I use the top of the hope chest to hold the pillows at night. I have wiped it and dusted it without any difficulties. So I am quite happy with this wax. by Wise Owl. Like with the hope chest, I will allow the box to cure for at least two weeks before I put it in the shop for sale.

The Wise Owl wax went on like butter and smelled divine! Sadly, the scent did go away but the finish has been wonderful and has held up to daily use.

Do I call it a jewelry box, a keepsake box, a pen box??? I have christened the box “Rose” and , depending on how this box is accepted, will likely upgrade some other boxes with the transfers.

Now here comes the favor I need from you. How should I stage this box for sale?
I have sold it as a jewelry box in the past. Drawers filled with a necklace, watch, bracelets, etc. Or as a box to store pens and pencils, and even a cell phone? Ideas??

I would really appreciate any thoughts here. I have a huge inventory and would like to sell a few. Not to toot my own horn, but the boxes are beautifully hand crated by a professional cabinet maker. The wood beautiful, all natural exotic hardwoods: Walnut, Black Walnut or Acadia, Bubinga, Paduck

l’ll check over the next couple weeks so please send me your ideas on the blog or in my Instagram or Facebook pages. My simple wood box named Rose.

Thanks for visiting.

Take good care all
