I recently posted our condo kitchen remodel. In those posts, I showed this six-foot walnut stained dining table and bench. I move dit up from the lower level and workshop up to the kitchen eating area to stage it in a proper setting and for those who come to the shop to view.
John and I do not use the table: we eat in the sunroom or at the kitchen bar. While I feel in love with this table and the finish on it, I know it is too large for my space. I’d love to see the table go to a new home.
We made this table 6 ft dining table with bench a while ago. I have loved watching the blog for General Finishes…some beautiful wood furniture on there. We used their stain on this table…I think that is why it looks so rich. Java Stain gave us a really deep rich walnut finish and I just love it. My kitchen is too small for a 6 ft table and I have no formal dining room to place it.
I live in a condo that has a small eating area for a table. A 5 ft table fits perfectly in that spot….otherwise I would grab this for myself.
I’d put three metal stool like chairs down the one open side and place formal chairs at each end…. or maybe wood chairs
The table with wood chairs
John first started this table from rough sawn cedar from the local lumber yard The wood is rustic, to begin with, and he put a few dingers in it and heavily sanded it in order to get a smooth finish. So the table has natural dip and knots in its makeup. They look lovely with the deep walnut accenting the wood grains. The multiple layers of poly ensure the finish stays smooth and rich.
We are still offering this table and bench for sale. Let us know if anyone is interested in purchasing.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the finish. Java Gel worked out well for us but I hear of problems applying poly. Have any of you guys had problems and solutions to offer?
